Squeaky Clean HR Series

Effective management of human resources is essential for creating successful organizational results. As a part of doing business, nonprofit organizations must be aware of and adhere to all legal employment requirements, exercise fair and equitable HR practices that attract and retain qualified individuals, and provide a safe work environment. The Squeaky Clean HR Series will help nonprofit leaders and HR staff to provide a safe, welcoming, and productive work environment while protecting their employees and their organization from harmful and illegal practices.

The Squeaky Clean HR Series content is presented by the Human Resource Association of the Midlands and the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands.

SPEAKERS:  Tami Lewis-Ahrendt and Luke Reiff, CenterPointe

"Managing the Multi-Generational Workforce

The good news: the current workforce has the greatest generational diversity in history, representing five different generations at work side-by-side.  The bad news: many approaches to managing the multi-generational workforce are based on common misconceptions and false assumptions about the differences between these groups.

We’ll look at the research on generational motivation, common myths and misunderstandings, and provide the tools to create an inclusive, fact-based approach to engaging and managing the diverse workforce effectively to achieve organizational success. By understanding the truth about each generation’s unique skill sets, employers can capitalize on these strengths and plan to attract the right talent for their organization’s needs.

Session Objectives

  • Define and understand the different generations

  • Explore common myths/misconceptions of each generation

  • Review the research and define what is supported by the data

  • Discuss how to create a research-based approach to managing the multi-generational workforce, from recruitment to exit, to capitalize on the value of generational differences
