Effective management of human resources is essential for creating successful organizational results. As a part of doing business, nonprofit organizations must be aware of and adhere to all legal employment requirements, exercise fair and equitable HR practices that attract and retain qualified individuals, and provide a safe work environment. The Squeaky Clean HR Series will help nonprofit leaders and HR staff to provide a safe, welcoming, and productive work environment while protecting their employees and their organization from harmful and illegal practices.

The Squeaky Clean HR Series content is presented by the Human Resource Association of the Midlands and the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands.  


"Best Practices for Creating a Structured Interview Process

TOPIC: In today’s competitive labor market, it is important for both candidates and organizations ensure a new hire will be successful in a new position.  The interview is one of the key steps in the process of making the correct hire.  In addition, interviews can create legal risk if the wrong questions are asked of candidates.  During this session you will learn how to:

  • Define how to identify competencies needed for an individual to be successful in a position

  • How to create behavioral based interview questions  

  • How to conduct efficient and effective interviews

  • Create a process to evaluate interviews using a rating scale

  • Ensure your interviewing process is legally compliant

  • Train managers how to properly use interview tools and document the process

  • Discuss new recruiting challenges as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic

Participants will leave the session with a list of behavior based interview questions and a rating system they can easily incorporate into their recruiting process.
