Governmental Affairs
The mission of the Governmental Affairs committee is to keep the membership informed of pertinent legislative activity, on both the State and Federal levels, and encourage them to be involved and educated regarding pending legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
· Track information in both the Nebraska Unicameral and the Iowa Legislature
· Publish legislative updates
· Increase members' awareness of issues and encourage involvement:
(a) Letter Writing,
(b) Asking Questions, and
(c) Contact Information
· Guest speakers at committee meetings
· Attend annual SHRM Legislative Conference
Committee Goals:
1. Provide 4 educational AM Technical Sessions
2. Day in the District
3. Provide 2 continuing education webinars
4. Get the membership interested in testifying on pending legislation that impacts their company and/or industry
5. Initiate letter writing, email and phone call campaigns to our Senators
6. Email blasts to the membership to keep them informed of pending legislation
7. Provide updates on legislation, state and federal – available on HRAM website
8. Track IA legislation
