Governmental Affairs

The mission of the Legislative committee is to keep the membership informed of pertinent legislative activity, on both the State and Federal levels, and encourage them to be involved and educated regarding pending legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Track information in both the Nebraska Unicameral and the Iowa Legislature
  • Publish legislative updates
  • Increase members' awareness of issues and encourage involvement: (a) Letter Writing, (b) Asking Questions and (c) Contact Information
  • Guest speakers at committee meetings
  • Attend annual SHRM Legislative Conference

Committee Goals:

  1. Federal Issues- pinpoint areas for committee members to follow up on and utilize SHRM's HR Week to provide information to members.
  2. State Issues- Reference Checking legislation and Governor's Race.
  3. Projects- Candidate awareness (Governor's Race) and Legislative Conference.
  4. Identify areas of CAP that we can contribute to.
  5. Review committee mission and goals periodically.
